Two Questions for Readers of This Space

  • I have an acquaintance going to Burning Man for the first time. She was looking for someone with first hand experience and wanted to know if the elements were so harsh that a first timer should really rent an RV or if a tent would do.
  • The second question is about this space. Is there anything you'd like to see in this space that I am not covering?

Wanted:
- 20% more non-Angelic spirits.
- 30% more Goetia. (You've done the work! Talk about it!)
- 10% more badassery. (You're a badass, mang. Show it. Saunter, you jackass, saunter!)

Question the first: I have never been, but I hear that a supply of fresh water is a must, as are goggles and a mask of some sort to keep out dust.

From a friend who has been: Just a tent will not do. She'll need a shade structure. RVs will be their own pain, and you'll usually use your car for storage. The biggest problem they will face is the amount of stuff they will need to take, especially potable water which will stop being available around Utah, if they are driving from the east coast.

He also said to go here: http://www.burningman.com/preparation/event_survival/

as it is considered required reading for the event.

He was insistent that I quote him here: "You have to remember to drink the water. You will forget. If you forget for too long, you will DIE!"

Question the Second: What ever you are up to, or thinking about!

@POS: AIT understands this. He groks, mang. He groks.

You must learn to grok. And grok hard. In a universe filled with meaning, being a mang is, err, something. What that something is: I don't know.

Faust, I've had more than one back channel comment that you comment made people fall of their chairs laughing. I'd love to comment on it but I have no clue what to say.

Jow, thanks so much for the info. I don't know this woman well but I'm sure she'll appreciate the time you put into letting me know.

Im not going to burning man this year, but my girlfriends are. They are going to build the yurt out of the rigid foam insulation. They camp with prometheatrics on by esplanade. Tents are ok ,better if they are in a carport tho. Definately read the survival. Water, no trace, no moop, dust mask and sealed goggles, sunblock, snack food, bicycle, costumes or no clothes, small gifts. Those were some of the fun things. Try to hook up with others who have gone or find a group beforehand would be best.
