When you conjure using Poke's black mirror, you're conjuring the spirit into an image of yourself. You're effectively asking to be possessed. In some cultures it's an acceptable thing, a risk that has many rewards. In the West, possession is 9/10 of the Law. It makes sense that coming down from this takes longer if you're conjuring a spirit into your reflection. Symbols are powerful things, and it seems like your experience supports the theory that you're really conjuring the spirit into yourself.
